*Please note: The Abandoned Property website we will be performing maintenance on 6/25 from 10 AM - 2 PM and will be out of service*
Welcome to the Massachusetts
Abandoned Property Division web site.
It is estimated that one person in every ten has abandoned
property. According to the Massachusetts Abandoned Property
Laws, most financial assets that have been inactive for more
than three years are declared abandoned and turned
over to the Commonwealth.
Many citizens have questions about abandoned property, such
as why do states have abandoned property laws and how do I
file a claim for my property? With this web site we seek to
answer many of your questions and reunite abandoned assets
with its rightful owners.
This is a free service and there is no time limit for filing a claim. It is my
priority to make returning abandoned property as easy as possible.
The Massachusetts State Employees' Retirement System and Massachusetts Teachers' Retirement System are looking for the beneficiaries of deceased retirees. For a listing of deceased members whose Option B benefits have been unclaimed, please click here for:
